Cupcake Dangles

Thursday, 28 October 2010 @ 10:29 | 2 Comments

This is my first attempt making these.
I've seen some others online and thought they were so cute i'd give it a try.
Of course they're not as amazing as some others but i had fun making these!
I'm thinking of giving them to my besties as a stocking filler for Christmas.
I always feel more excited giving people presents that i have made, even if its as simple as these.
I don't think they turned out too bad to be honest, but i'm a little annoyed that dust has attracted itself onto the clay.*sigh* Pooooo.

I also tried the barry m effect nail varnish. It's so freaky. But i found that the varnish was quite gunky? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that or whether its just my one. I was thinking of adding some polish thinner but i'm scared that it may ruin the formula.

If you wanted to try these yourself, I used Fimo Clay, you can buy them really cheap off Ebay. Theres loads on there. The clay is like playdough, then you make it solid by putting it in the oven for around 20 minutes. Make sure you keep an eye on it! I burnt one once and it left a horrible chemical smell in my oven and kitchen for ages! Not good...

I bought the dangles and rings from a local bead shop, but I'm pretty sure you can buy these on Ebay as well.

Hope everyone has a good weekend and enjoy Halloween!

Ps. I saw Despicable Me yesterday and it was SO GOOD. I recommend it ALOT. =)

Bird Print.

Here's the outline before the colour. I drew it all out then outlined it on Photoshop.
It's so hard to outline with a mouse!

Here's the final print after numerous experiments (which i don't have on the computer anymore booo)

The print was based on items that i had seen in a local museum.

I think the outcome came out alright considering i'm not very good at Photoshop!

Withered.

I made these during one of my textiles lessons back at college.
I came across the photos and just admired the unusual, delicate shapes created here.
Although the weather can be pretty unpredictable here in the UK, i am starting to appreciate the fact that we experience all four seasons and the changes of nature's beauty.

(HAHA, i just noticed that this is contains floral, gor geez, i need to expand)

FMP

Tuesday, 22 June 2010 @ 23:33 | 0 Comments

These are a couple of my fav pics of the garment i made for my FMP. I wanted to make one similar to Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz.
The construction of the garment took sucha long time X__X but i'm proud with the end result.
Its my first ever piece of clothing using actual patterns! (Measured & drawn out all by myself ^_^)
It gives you such satisfation in the end when u go through all the difficult processes; Its well worth the time & effort.

These were shot in a "japanese" garden near where i live. The lighting was good but MY GOD it was so hot i was boiling under there. Anyway enough ramblings.
I edited this photo 2 ways, but still am undecided which one i like more! in the end, i used the bottom one for my exhibition.

Quick one.

A non textile piece here. I was asked to respond to the music that was being played to the class. I've never done this before, and i found it very interesting. But my god, did the teachers choose THE most annoying music to listen to. The worst bit for me was to try and NOT look at the paper. >__<

Flowers in Relief.

Sunday, 14 March 2010 @ 21:24 | 0 Comments

A personal study that i had to do for my 2nd year of college.
I decided to concentrate on different fashion designers and their approach upon having flowers in relief in their collections.
I printed it all onto a satin like material, and included wadding inbetween the pages. I then sewed the edges by hand as i didn't have a machine in handy =[.
God, i just realised, do i do anything other than flowers? LOL
(The box i put the pages in.)

Links & Connections.

Wednesday, 10 March 2010 @ 09:32 | 0 Comments

This was from a project from a couple of years ago.
The given title was Links & Connections.
It eventually led me do some a piece based on humans and emotions.

I transferred the photo onto fabric. I then added the splats by painting some disperse dyes onto paper then tranferring it on top. The swirls are all machine embroiderred (yes, again), which killed the hell outta my eyes with the amount of concentration needed, lol.

De-construct, Re-construct.

Thursday, 4 March 2010 @ 18:28 | 0 Comments

The project aim was to basically create another piece of clothing from an existing one.

Yeah, pretty hidious isn't it? I made my poor friend model it for me =P. I chose it because i thought that there would be a lot of fabric to work with. It funny how florals are back in fashion now, obviously not as vibrant O__O.

I wanted to explore the fabric/material. I defined the floral pattern by machine embroidering on top. This was soooo time consuming! Ahhh. I then cut out 'Strips' of the flowers.

Fast forward a few days
.
yuh.
